Matt graduated from the University of East London in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
Since graduating, he has worked in a private practice setting in Waterloo, Ontario and Houston, BC with special interests in manual therapy and functional rehabilitation.
Growing up in Smithers, Matt spent his weekends playing hockey and skiing in the winters and soccer, golf, and fishing in the summers. Competing in sports and experiencing the benefits of Physiotherapy to help overcome injuries and improve his functional abilities is what influenced Matt to choose a career in Physiotherapy.
Matt has been fortunate to mentor under senior Physiotherapists who also share a similar passion in manual therapy and functional strengthening. Matt has completed trainings in sports rehabilitation, sports taping and manual therapy. Matt has worked with a variety of patient types including acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, supervised functional strengthening, stroke rehabilitation, and post operative and occupational rehabilitation.
Understanding the challenges of the rehabilitation process and what it takes to get back to sports, work or hobbies can be difficult, but having the first hand experience of being through similar challenges is what helps Matt build a rapport and connect with patients.
Matt is committed to continuing with evidence-based practice to provide his patients with the confidence and support needed to return to sports, work, and a healthy lifestyle.
